Is the driver's side window of a car shatter-resistant?

It's a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The reason I am asking is I lent my GPS to a coworker. When I asked for it back, he said it had been stolen out of his car. I am doubting this story.

The window looked fine — he said he had already had the window replaced. I looked at the carpet of his car and there were no traces of broken glass — however there was a lot of dirt and cigarette ashes and stuff like that, so I could tell the carpet had not recently been vacuumed.

So I am wondering, is there any plausible reason why there wouldn't be any broken glass in his car?
